This competition is open to any person of any age, in any country - with the exception of The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Prize for the impact of WATER, which is only open to people who live in the EBRD's countries of operation plus Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and Tunisia.

  1. General

    1. All proposals must be your original work and must not infringe the copyrights, trademarks, rights of privacy, publicity or other intellectual property or other rights of any person or entity, or otherwise be unlawful.

    2. tve has overall discretion in determining whether to publish, screen or broadcast any material.

    3. tve has the right in its absolute discretion to refuse to publish, screen or broadcast any submitted material.

    4. tve is entitled without liability to you to cancel the competition and/or to make reasonable adjustments to the competition rules at any time.

  2. Competition Participation

    1. This competition is open to any person of any age, in any country. The purpose of the competition is for people worldwide to propose a one-minute film about the environment.

    2. The proposals and the final films must address the issues outlined in one of the five categories defined by tve. These are as follows: The Shivdasani Prize for People and our Planet, The Lighthouse Foundation Prize for the Seas and Oceans, The UNEP "Green Economy: Powering Climate Solutions" Prize for Sustainable Energy, The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Prize for the Impact of Water or WWF-UK's Forests for Life Prize.

    3. Only proposals uploaded via the website will be considered.

    4. Entries can come from individuals, or groups. Groups must have a named leader, whose details should be submitted on the entry form.

    5. Proposals and entries can only be submitted in English.

    6. Proposals can be uploaded via the tve biomovies website from 22 September 2010. The deadline for submission of entries is 23.00 GMT 21 October 2011.

    7. Selected filmmakers will be contacted by 1 November 2011.

    8. US$300 will be paid to each selected filmmaker only on delivery of the film.

    9. The 10 films may be shown in Durban, South Africa, in December 2011 at the United Nations Climate Change Conference; they may be screened on TV, used for publicity purposes, shown at other events or used for other purposes at tve's discretion. tve does not commit to using the film for any of the purposes listed.

    10. The 10 films may only be uploaded to tve's Inspiring Change YouTube channel and must not be uploaded elsewhere. The films may be embedded, but not uploaded, on other sites after 30 November 2011.

    11. In consideration of the funding set out in (8) above, you will give the entire copyright of the film made for tve's biomovies competition, design right, title right and all rights of a similar nature for their full term to tve.

  3. Entries

    1. Proposals must be submitted through the website http://www.tvebiomovies.org

    2. tve may use the material and any personal details provided for any promotional, marketing and publicity proposed in any media without notice and without any fee being payable to you.

    3. By entering into this competition, you hereby release and agree to hold harmless tve and its respective affiliates, subsidiaries, assigns, agents, representatives, independent contractors, officers, employees, directors, and the tve biomovies 2011 judging panel from and against any and all claims, liabilities, costs, damages and expenses of any kind arising out of or relating to your entry to the competition, your use or acceptance of any prize, or the use by tve of any proposals submitted by you.

    4. By entering this competition, you grant to tve, our licensees and affiliates a worldwide royalty-free, exclusive right to record, edit, use, reproduce, screen and distribute in the following media: film, television, online, electronic (such as DVD or CD-ROM), the film you enter in the tve biomovies competition 2011; and to use your picture, voice, name, likeness, and data provided by you for the competition in publicity and advertising concerning any such use of your entry. Such right will be limited to use in connection with the tve biomovies competition (either in 2011 or in the future) and the activities of tve, and such other purposes as the organisation sees fit in the future.

  4. Judging Process

    1. All entries submitted will be reviewed by tve and 50 films will be shortlisted - 10 for each category. An independent judging panel will then determine the 10 filmmakers (two finalists from each category) from the shortlisted entries (and these entries will be deemed 'the filmmakers' for the purposes of these terms and conditions). The selection of the 10 filmmakers will not be up for dispute. The judging panel's decision is final and conclusive, and no further discussion will be entered into.

  5. Law and Disputes

    1. The competition is governed by and subject to the laws of England. Ultimately, the decisions of tve are final and binding in all discretionary matters relating to this competition.
